Chamber choir “Tonika” was founded in 1966. The choir’s repertoire includes both spiritual, and mundane music varied from Renaissance till nowadays as well as Latvian and foreign music. The choir concert life is active in Latvia and abroad. “Tonika” regularly participates in concerts, festivals and competitions in the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland, France and Italy. Activities and the most recent awards won by the choir are following:
- the 2nd and the 3rd place at the 19th and 20th International Choir Competition in Tolos (Spain) in 1991
- the 3rd place at the 22nd International Choir Competition in Tolos (Spain) in 1994
- the 1st place and Grand Prix at the International Choir Competition Voci dal Garda in Salo (Italy) in 1998
- the 2nd grade diploma and conductor prize at 4th International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf (Germany) in 1999

“Tonika” has three different age groups:
- Studio (6 – 12 year olds)
- Girls Choir (12-16 year olds)
- Chamber Choir (16 – 25 year olds)
Attractive concerts and musical performances are regularly staged apart from academic music concerts. Traditions – summer camps, dancing, common events and celebrations play an important role in “Tonika’s” daily life.
